The school's pedagogy is based on Montessori principles, is cross curricular, rigorous, and underscores independent and experiential learning. The school spans a middle school (grades 7-9) and a unique Early College High School in partnership with a California Community College to serve students in grades 10-12. Our intimate two-building campus houses approximately 70 students, and is a WASC accredited school with a 6- year accreditation granted in 2020. Job Summary
Alsion Montessori Foundation is currently accepting applications for a Middle School Science Teacher for grades 7-9. This is a salaried full time position. We are seeking a passionate Science Teacher whose primary duties would be teaching biology, chemistry & physics at the middle school level and AP Environmental Science to our grade 9 students. Secondary duties would be teaching ancillary classes, such as PE, gardening, and electives. Demonstrated classroom management experience required. Candidates must be willing to attend training in Montessori philosophies to maintain harmony with our school culture. All middle school staff participate in the planning and executing of weeklong, overnight student outings for off site learning.

An ideal candidate would possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) and 3+ years experience teaching science at the middle school level.
- Knowledge of Montessori pedagogy.
- Ability to contribute in a collaborative culture where a small number of dedicated teachers take on unique roles in creating a warm and benevolent team culture of learners.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including public speaking and one-on-one verbal communication.
- Alsion follows a modified year-round calendar and the teaching position begins when classes resume in July 2021. Training may begin as early as Spring 2021.
