JOB DESCRIPTION PARAPROFESSIONAL Lake Elsinore, California ACCOUNTABILITY: Paraprofessional is accountable to the Administrative staff member. Assistance and supervision are the most crucial facets in a paraprofessional (known also as an Aide) job as they help teachers by supervising children in a different educational institutions. SALARY: Competitive (Part-time) SUMMARY: Assist our teachers and develop the next generation through a specialized curriculum. Work closely with the teacher in the assigned classroom and support them in their duties. Flexibility is key for this role, as tasks may change from day to day. Typical activities include creating presentations, printing off homework sheets, working with students in groups and individually during lessons, and creating progress notes and reports. The ideal candidate is caring, compassionate, and dedicated to the students’ success. They have a versatile skill set and a willingness to proactively look for ways to support the teacher. This position starts out with part-time hours and does offer full-time potential if you’re a good fit.

Requirements / Qualifications

Julia Lee Performing Arts Academy of Lake Elsinore EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (PREFERRED) Experience working as a substitute teacher for K-6 Hold a current teaching license or comparable certification Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development, Education or another liberal art program preferred Possession of an Associates of Arts (AA) degree or at least 48 college units (Preferred) Fluent in English and Spanish (high preferred) Tutoring experience and/or working with students preferred. A teaching credential is recommended, but not required Letter of Introduction Letters(s) or of Recommendation (3 Letters dated within the last 2 years)

DUTIES OF A PARAPROFESSIONAL: - Paraprofessionals and licensed teachers work together in order to enhance the efficacy of educational efforts provided by teachers. - They make sure that the efforts given by teachers in teaching different concepts to their students are properly explained. - They help teachers in order to plan proper handling of lectures. In higher educational institutions, paraprofessionals may possess expertise and knowledge on specific subjects. - As a teacher assistant, paraprofessionals make sure that the entire teaching materials are readily available and the table is set properly before the teacher arrives. After working hours, paraprofessionals still perform other duties such as maintaining files, checking mailboxes, and checking homework whenever the teacher is still busy or still has no time in looking after these things. NOTE: AT WILL EMPLOYMENT (see Petition) JLPAA will ensure that all legal qualification requirements will be met for teachers, staff, paraprofessionals and other administrative employees of the school. Each certificated employee at JLPAA will meet the state licensing requirements for the position that he/she holds. All teachers and staff will be “at-will” employees, in accordance with California law, meaning that the employment relationship can be severed by either party at any time, with or without cause. As per the school charter, all employment with Julia Lee Performing Arts Academy is considered at will. This means that both employees and Julia Lee Performing Arts Academy have the right to terminate employment at any time, with or without advance notice, and with or without cause.
