Job Summary: Teachers will report to the Principal and will be required to prepare and implement lesson plans that aide student understanding and education. Teachers will work collaboratively with other teachers and learning lab staff within our blended learning model and provide an effective classroom environment that reflects the goals of Grow Academy. Grow Academy is a “no excuse” school with high expectations for success among students, teachers and parents. Our mission is to close the achievement gap, graduating our students at or above grade level in Literacy and Math. Teacher Responsibilities will include: • Preparing and implementing lesson plans that lead to student understanding based on state standards • Providing an effective classroom environment that reflects and facilitates the academic program • Collaborating with the learning lab staff to implement quality software based independent practice learning • Assessing student progress and maintaining accurate records • Participating regularly in professional development opportunities • Maintaining frequent communication with students, students’ families, colleagues, the Academic Dean and Principal • A full day of teaching, primarily within the academic area in which they focus their teaming • Mentoring their peers to help them develop the skills needed to progress as teachers Requirements: • A Bachelor’s degree • A CA state Multi-subject or Single-subject teaching credential. Valid CTC permits will also be considered (PIP, STSP, Waiver, etc.) • Demonstrated mastery of classroom skills including classroom management, planning, assessment and instructional practice • Proficiency with various technologies and teaching tools • Bilingual ability preferred but not required
