Job Summary
Center for the Collaborative Classroom (CCC) is seeking a Curriculum Writer I who will write curriculum materials for CCC’s program offerings using existing curriculum as models. With guidance from your team, you will conceptualize new lessons that align with existing pedagogy, including suggestions for ELL support and tech integration. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator/teacher (K-8) who brings strong literacy expertise and a commitment to both our pedagogy and approach. You will be responsible for conceptualization of revisions to existing CCC products and new content, contributing ideas that reflect both creativity and understanding of CCC’s pedagogy, child development, and classroom practice.

Job Requirements
You will be part of a dynamic relationship-building team focused on projects from conceptualization to completion. Your engagement will make a difference at every level through the creation of curriculum. You will:
- With the guidance of a program manager and writing team, write or rewrite daily lessons, including responding to and incorporating feedback and generating new content.
- Organize and manage individual work (writing, revising, preparing manuscript for publication).
- Participate in the publishing process and work efficiently to meet deadlines.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate will bring substantial knowledge of curriculum, literacy instruction and teaching practices at the K–8 or middle school levels (in school, after school, or equivalent), preferably in an urban setting as well as knowledge of the realities of classrooms, schools, and districts.
- At least three years elementary or middle school teaching (in school, after school, or equivalent)
- Comprehensive understanding of best practices in literacy instruction, including how standards and ELL supports are incorporated into curriculum design
- Deep understanding of child development and constructivist approaches to learning and teaching
- Familiarity with current technology use in schools
- Excellent writing skills and careful attention to detail; ability to write for a variety of audiences
- Familiarity with collaboration tools (Google Suite) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
Education, Certification, Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Teaching Credential and curriculum writing experience is a plus
- Proven ability to write clearly and concisely for a variety of audiences
Physical demands:

What Else You Should Know
This is a full-time position and the salary will be commensurate with experience. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. We anticipate the person chosen for this position will start in July 2021.
Our organization is currently working under a remote capacity due to the COVID-19 pandemic through September 2021. This position is traditionally required to work/be present primarily in our main office located in Alameda, CA. We will determine at a later date whether this role will be permanently remote or on a hybrid schedule.
