2025-2026 SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) is an innovative and award-winning district with a diverse population that serves students from preschool through adult transition. LBUSD has been committed to a comprehensive and supportive internship experience for graduate students in school psychology programs. LBUSD will be offering internships for the 2025-2026 school year for up to 10 positions. These internship positions will be unpaid. VIPS clearance and fingerprinting is required for all interns. Below is a description of some aspects of our program: • Variety of experiences/opportunities: LBUSD serves students and has programs that range from preschool to adult transition. Interns’ needs for experience at different levels can be accommodated throughout the school year, based on their needs and interests. • Specialty areas/interests: Interns are encouraged to gain experience with any special area of interest or work with any type of special population of students. The Internship Coordinator will make an effort to provide exposure and opportunities within the district that match your unique areas of interest. • Internship supervisors: At each assigned school site, interns will be supervised directly with an experienced school psychologist in all aspects of the job. Supervisors will evaluate interns and meet with university supervisors as required. Each intern will typically have no more than two direct supervisors, one at each level. • Group supervision: Internship supervision group will be provided for all interns on a bi-monthly basis for the fall and spring semesters. The focus is on the practical application of school psychology principles and the formation of interns as developing school psychologists.
