DANCE TEACHER POSITION DESCRIPTION We are looking to hire a passionate Dance Teacher to join the New West Charter School family. You will be responsible for teaching and training a dynamic group of students in a range of techniques and dance styles. You must ensure that all students are engaged, motivated, and inspired to achieve their goals as a dancer. RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate dance instruction in all pertinent dance styles such as jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip hop, and lyrical dance; in person and/or online. Develop dance curriculum and prepare daily lesson plans for students in grades 9-12 Communicate effectively and respectfully with a diverse group of teachers, parents, and students Evaluate student performance and make recommendations for improvement Choreograph routines for on-campus performances and for Fall and Spring concerts Provide a fun, creative, and safe learning environment for all students Responsible for fundraising efforts for costumes, competitions, and field-trips Follow all New West Policies and Procedures QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in subject area or related field Teaching credential is preferred; will consider applicants currently enrolled in a Credential program Previous teaching experience at the high school level (preferred) Excellent communication skills Working knowledge of Google apps such as Classroom, Slide, Docs, etc. Demonstrated leadership skills
