THIS POSTING IS FOR CONSIDERATION AS A TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN TEACHER AT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES FOR POSITIONS THAT MAY ARISE DURING THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR. ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES AND TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN TEACHER POSITIONS: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to students in grades TK-12 in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily, complete all assignments, and attend live instructional sessions. K12, inc. is our curriculum provider. Teachers meet with students throughout the week in their virtual classrooms to provide standards-based direct and targeted instruction that meets the needs of the students, as well as support students in coursework, provide additional one-to-one support, including daily “Circle Time” and provide feedback and grade student work. Teachers build lasting relationships with their students through consistent outreach throughout the school year and monitor attendance and engagement. In addition to, providing interventions as needed to ensure students remain engaged and continue learning. Teachers are required to connect virtually with students once per month at minimum and attend/coordinate in-person events twice per quarter. All teachers are required to proctor state testing. HOURS AND SALARY INFORMATION: Full time teachers work Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.
Full Time TK Teachers: BA- $47,858-$51,538 annual salary based on years of experience MA- $49,414-$53,213 annual salary based on years of experience We do participate in CalSTRS. Please contact your CalSTRS counselor about how employment with any of the California Virtual Academies may affect your personal STRS account. Only full time teachers are offered health, dental, and vision benefits. Benefits information is only given out upon offer. We do provide training for all programs and we have a great staff to serve as your support system. ELIGIBILITY POOL: Our postings are eligibility pools for positions that may arise during the 2020-2021 school year, ONLY. As our enrollment continues to grow during the year, there is no way to forecast when a position will open up, which is why there are no set number of open positions listed, nor is such information given out.
