ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES AND THE ROVING SUBSTITUTE TEACHER POSITIONS: California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to TK-12 students in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily, attend daily online instructional sessions and submit all assignments. K12, inc. is our curriculum provider. Teachers instruct students online daily. Roving Substitutes are full time employees contracted per semester, helping in all departments as needed to cover teachers out on daily or short term basis, as well as completing other duties as needed during contracted hours. HOURS AND SALARY INFORMATION: This position is full time, working Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours. This is a public school position, you must be available/working during these contracted hours.
Full Time: $120 daily rate We do participate in CalSTRS. Please contact your CalSTRS counselor about how employment with the California Virtual Academies may affect your personal STRS account. Full time staff are offered health, dental, and vision benefits. Benefits information is only given out upon offer. We do provide training for all programs and we have a great staff to serve as your support system. As the California Virtual Academies is a public school and this is a public school teacher position, these are set contracted hours and you must be available/working during these hours while under contract with the California Virtual Academies. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.
Start Date
August 2020- Immediate hires as needed throughout the 2020-2021 school year. Our schools are enrollment based, we may need to hire teachers at any time throughout the year as our enrollment continues to grow.
Location
Our Administrative Office is located in Simi Valley, CA, but most of our teachers and related service providers work from home.

The California Virtual Academies service students and hire in most California counties, except the following 16 counties: Del Norte, Siskiyou, Modoc, Humboldt, Trinity, Shasta, Lassen, Tehama, Glenn, Plumas, Sierra, Nevada, Alpine, Tuolumne, Mariposa and El Dorado.
