BASIC FUNCTION:

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

- Provide student assistance in developing functional skills of daily living such as attention management, relational interaction, grooming and hygiene, and anger management. E
- Provide students and families with information and assistance in managing medication compliance. E
- Provide student social skills training in group and individual settings with emphasis on student successfully maintaining in the classroom and on the campus. E
- Assist with the development and implementation of positive behavior support and intervention techniques and behavior support plans in conjunction with student’s mental health goals as part of the individual education plan (IEP) process. E
- Assist in development and implementation of level systems, positive incentives, and individual and classroom contracts. E
- Implement and model alternative communication intervention strategies. E
- Assist students in management of emotions and behaviors in the educational context. E
- Provide crisis intervention and treatment interventions for students and their families. E
- Physically restrain students as necessary to control violent behavior and maintain a safe environment. E
- Provide continuous supervision of students in classrooms, cafeteria, on grounds, at bus loading zones, and other school site areas as assigned. E
- Provide rehabilitative groups for students, including but not limited to social skills, peer relations, and anger management. E
- Train staff, parents, and students in rehabilitative and behavioral strategies and techniques. E
- May supervise students to and from bus loading zones and maintain discipline; supervise and attend to students as they are transported between home and school or on special activity trips.
- Participate in group and individual meetings, including Instructional Study Team and Individualized Education Plan meetings as necessary. E
- Assist with difficult behavior at other sites as necessary. E
- Participate in staff development programs during work hours as directed. Gather, compile, and prepare data for statistical and operational reports. E
- Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to three years of behavior modification experience with youth in a mental health setting, preferably in inpatient hospitalization, intensive day treatment, or residential treatment settings.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid California driver’s license and availability of private transportation (mileage expense allowance provided).
Personality and character traits suited to providing services for students with serious behavior challenges. Maintain Professional Assault Crisis Training (Pro-ACT) certification as provided by the district.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to three years of behavior modification experience with youth in a mental health setting, preferably in inpatient hospitalization, intensive day treatment, or residential treatment settings.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid California driver’s license and availability of private transportation (mileage expense allowance provided).
