Job Summary

General Summary The Principal for Taylion Academy will manage the daily operation of the school, while working closely with the management team to execute the long-term, strategic growth of the charter school and its mission and vision. Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following: • Work with management team and management team to implement strategic goals, establish clear benchmarks, and track and measure progress. • Recruit, develop, manage, and retain a high quality, and culturally diverse staff that reflects the community being served. • Supervise, support and manage school leadership and staff in all aspects of their work including effective support for faculty, maximizing student achievement outcomes and closing the achievement gap between subgroups as identified in strategic goals. • Oversee the fiscal health of the school for effective operation and long-term sustainability, including management of the operational budget and development of adequate revenue sources through diverse funding streams (state, local, stakeholders, parents etc.). • Ensure operational integrity of the school including satisfactory and proactive compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory reporting, contractual obligations, donor restrictions, and successful charter petition renewal. • Develop and maintain effective and appropriate engagement with diverse stakeholders including the district charter office, local leadership, school faculty, staff members, students, parents, community members, and other private and public partners. • Represent and advocate for the school at the local and state level including the California charter school community. • Effectively manage the independent study educational program of the school including: teacher workload and effectiveness, student attendance files, logs, and work samples, student information system and all attendance and educational program related files, attendance and data submittal to CDE and to CA

Responsibilities

  • The Principal for Taylion Academy will help to manage the daily operation of the school and work closely with the Regional Director to execute the long-term, strategic growth of the charter school and its mission and vision.

  • Work with the Regional Director to implement strategic goals, establish clear benchmarks, and track and measure progress.

  • In conjunction with HR, recruit, develop, manage, and retain a high quality, and culturally diverse staff that reflects the community being served.

  • Supervise, support and manage school staff in all aspects of their work including effective support for faculty, maximizing student achievement outcomes and closing the achievement gap between subgroups as identified in strategic goals.

  • Ensure operational integrity of the school including satisfactory and proactive compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory reporting, contractual obligations, donor restrictions, and successful charter petition renewal.

  • Serves as the educational leader and provides direction of the instructional program, operation of the school plan, participation in staff and student activities, and community leadership.

  • Plans, coordinates, and evaluates the total program of pupil services, including guidance and counseling

  • Interprets and analyzes data to organize and coordinate efforts for increased student achievement.


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Administrative Credential required. Will consider those working toward the credential for an interim position until credential is finalized.

  • Master’s Degree in related field strongly preferred.

  • 5-7 years progressive experience working as a school principal or in school leadership.

  • Familiarity with alternative learning styles and charter schools strongly preferred

  • Strong leadership skills and qualities with the ability to earn respect and win your team over as a leader by example.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and Google Applications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality, work effectively with all departments and team members, ability to prioritize and work independently

  • Highly organized with an advanced ability to multitask and meet various deadlines, both short and long term

  • Experience in an educational, especially a charter school or not for profit, setting is preferred
