The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools office acts as an intermediate service agency between the California Department of Education and the 33 school districts in San Bernardino County to help meet the educational needs of all children county-wide. Job Summary

The Chief, Equity and Access serves as the Innovation and Engagement branch leader charged with advancing achievement, equity and opportunity disparities between student groups, with attention to cultural, racial, and linguistic differences, and disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds. The Chief, Equity and Access leads the countywide development of a system of continuous improvement based on ongoing review and analysis of data to proactively engage staff, students and the broader community in evidence-rich conversations about equitable opportunities and outcomes for all students’ learning and well-being. The Chief, Equity and Access coordinates action of cross-sector practitioners to design and implement multiple learning opportunities with the goal of eliminating disparities in opportunity and achievement among student groups.

Requirements / Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Possession of a Master’s degree in Education, Equity and Social Justice, or a related field, from an accredited college or university; • Possession of a valid California Administrative Services credential; • Possession of a valid California Teaching credential; • Three (3) years of professional experience in designing, coaching, delivering high-quality culturally responsive curriculum and instructional support to educators, administrators and/or principals in an educational setting, including working with diverse populations in equity, diversity, and cultural initiatives and/or programs and underrepresented student populations. Experience must include one (1) year experience as a site administrator. • Experience participating in school and district curriculum development and professional development planning and implementation.
