About the Employer
We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate’s training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

Basic Function: Under the direction of the Manager-Maintenance & Grounds, perform skilled electronics work in the installation, maintenance and repair of alarm, public address, sound, clock and other electronic and communication systems, devices and equipment.
KNOWLEDGE OF: Methods, materials, tools, testing devices and equipment used in electronics work, Design, construction, installation, repair and maintenance electronic and communication systems, devices and equipment, Operation of a wide variety of hand and power tools and equipment, Shop math applicable to electronics, Applicable building codes, ordinances, fire regulations and safety precautions, Technical aspects of electronics, Preventive maintenance principles and practices, Health and safety regulations and procedures, Oral and written communication skills, Record-keeping techniques, Proper lifting techniques. ABILITY TO: Perform skilled electronics work in the installation, maintenance and repair of alarm, public address, sound, clock and other electronic and communication systems, devices and equipment; Inspect, troubleshoot and diagnose electronic and communication device, system and equipment malfunctions; Operate tools, equipment and materials used in electronics; Organize and lay out electronic and communication work; Work from sketches, diagrams, blueprints, plans and specifications; Maintain various records related to work performed; Work independently with little direction; Estimate material, equipment and supply needs; Observe health and safety regulations; Interpret, apply and explain applicable building codes, ordinances, fire regulations and safety precautions; Understand and follow written and oral instructions; Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
