This job is posted as a PROMOTION and OUTSIDE. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- POSITION: Under general supervision, designs, plans and configures local area networks, wide area networks, internet and related data processing equipment; diagnoses computer and network problems; maintains and repairs equipment; performs related work as required.

SELECTION PROCEDURE: Candidates must pass each part of the examination which consists of the following: review and evaluation of candidate's application material (qualifying), resume, evaluations and reports, attendance records, interview, and letters of recommendation/reference. Those candidates successful in the above areas will be invited to the interview portion of the examination. Any material to be reviewed by the screening committee must be submitted by the final filing date. Prior to employment, candidate will be fingerprinted by Mt. Diablo Unified School District. Costs incurred are the responsibility of the prospective employee.

      REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must possess the knowledge and skill required for successful job performance as follows: TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: A combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of college level courses leading to an associate degree in information systems or four years of increasingly responsible experience with emphasis in data processing, computer use and local area networks; three years experience in computer use and minor repair of computers and equipment; one year experience as a computer network administrator; experience in data communications equipment installation. KNOWLEDGE OF: • Operation and troubleshooting of complex data processing related equipment problems to include computers, data communications equipment, cables, networks and related equipment SKILL IN: • Use of local area network operating software and computer software • Analyzing situations accurately and adopting an effective course of action • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others • Communicating with non-technical personnel on technical matters • Recordkeeping ABILITY TO: • Lift and carry 60 pounds • Physical capability sufficient to perform job tasks • Work variable hours • Work independently LICENSES: • A valid California Driver’s License
