Job Summary

The Special Education Behavior Technician supports implementation of students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), assists in the instructional program in an educational setting, and assists in developing and implementing a behavior plan as described in the IEP.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma/GED and a passing score on the San Diego Unified School District Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE) or an Associate's degree (or higher) or 48 or more eligible units of coursework at a recognized college or university. One year of experience in behavior support and instructional methodologies is required. Completion of post high school courses in Psychology, Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, or related field is desirable. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid California driver's license and availability of private transportation may be required for designated positions which require the transportation of students (mileage expense allowance provided). Conversational and written skills in a specific foreign language related to the needs of the assignment may be required.

To be eligible for consideration, interested candidates must submit the following documents: Online employment application: Please complete the online application to include all current and previous work history and education. Individuals working in related substitute assignments must indicate long-term assignments in their work history in order to possibly meet the one-year minimum qualification.
