Job Summary
School Bus Drivers drive any type and size of school bus that may be operated by the school district for the transportation of passengers on regularly scheduled routes. School Bus Driver typically work 10 or 11 months per year. There are multiple vacancies within transportation.
Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to one year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience within the last 3 years involving the regular operation of a school bus on public streets and highways. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid California Special Driver Certificate for School Buses with valid first aid certificate, if required. Possession of a valid California Class A or B driver's license with passenger endorsement. Possession of a valid D.O.T. (Department of Transportation) approved medical certificate. A safe driving record for the last 3 years is required (Proof of safe driving record - California DMV Report will be required if selected to continue in the selection process. Any moving citations or chargeable accidents in the applicant's driving history within 37 calendar months prior to the application date will be evaluated and may be considered disqualifying. Personality and character traits suited to supervision and care of children of multiple ethnicities and cultural values, behavioral, and physical handicaps.

Substitute School Bus Driver Opportunity and Training
Candidates may obtain on-the-job training by applying to work as a Substitute School Bus Driver. Also, the San Diego Unified School District offers a State of California instruction course to obtain a Class A or B Driver's License with a Special Driver's Certificate for School Buses.
