The Weaver Union School District Preschool Program Coordinator (PPC) is responsible for providing ongoing support and coaching to the Weaver Preschool program. This includes technical assistance and supporting programs in meeting their Quality Improvement Goals to improve the quality of learning for children.

Required Qualifications: Education and/or Training: Bachelor’s Degree or higher degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. Education in the Social Science field strongly preferred. Credentials and/or Skills: Appropriate credential for the grade level/subject Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS or myTeachstone) or CSEFEL coaching certification highly desired. If not certified, will need to acquire and maintain certifications upon hire. Must have or acquire and maintain ECRES reliability certification. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for visiting preschool sites and attending meetings throughout Merced County. Must have strong organizational skills. Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with others. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to show initiative, solve problems and work independently, as well as be part of the team. Competency with technology tools. Excellent organization and management skills. Experience: Minimum of two (2) years experience working in the Early Childhood Education field required. Experience coaching, training or supervising staff in an early education setting required. Bilingual Spanish / Hmong preferred. Summary of the Position: The Weaver Union School District Preschool Program Coordinator (PPC) is responsible for providing ongoing support and coaching to the Weaver Preschool program. This includes technical assistance and supporting programs in meeting their Quality Improvement Goals to improve the quality of learning for children. Essential Duties: Provide onsite coaching, technical assistance and support for Early Care and Education (ECE) programs, including Weaver Union School District’s County Quality Rating and Improvement System. Work with each site to develop and implement a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and facilitate linkage to other professional development and quality improvement resources. Conduct or assist as needed with training presentations to support quality improvement strategies. Participate in collaborative meetings with partners as required. Facilitate PLC’s for Weaver Union School District Preschool staff. Track, report on and complete data entry of all activities on a regular basis, including site visits. Attend and contribute to the QRIS Consortium meetings, as scheduled. Attend trainings to increase coaching skills and knowledge, and obtain and maintain certification as required. Possess a strong understanding of Early Childhood Education, child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Have the ability to understand and predict agency needs; ability to problem solve. Possess a strong understanding of the QRIS Matrix and The California QRIS Implementation Guide. Possess a strong understanding of the Environment Rating Scale (ERS), Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP), Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ), Center for the Social Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL), and the California Preschool Foundations. Possess a strong understanding of technology (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google, Mac, iPad, database systems, internet, etc.). Display knowledge of California Child Care Licensing Regulations. Have previous coaching and adult learning experience. Physical Requirements: See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids. Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without hearing aids. Speak so that others may understand at normal levels and on the telephone. Sit or stand for extended periods of time. Standing, walking, stooping, twisting, bending over, grasp, reach overhead, push, pull and move. Ability to lift and/or carry fifteen (15) pounds to waist height. Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to file materials. Work Environment: Employees in this position will be required to work indoors in an office environment with constant interruptions and/or classroom environment consisting of tables, chairs, orthopedic devices and playground equipment. Employee may come in direct contact with students, parents, district staff and the public. Duty Days / Hours: 11 months / 237 days per year 8 hours per day
