Under direction to plan, organize, coordinate, lead, and participate in electrical work, in the repair, alteration, construction, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment; to perform semiskilled and skilled duties in other maintenance trade areas; and to do other related work as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that might be performed. The
omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment
to the position.
• Organizes, schedules, coordinates, leads and participates in the work functions of the electrical systems and equipment
• Inspects, repairs, installs, tests, services and maintains electrical systems, including conduit systems, light and power circuits, motor appliances, generators, control equipment, switches, switchboards, fans, bells, buzzers,
clocks and fire alarm systems
• Installs interior and exterior wiring for equipment and appliances
• Wires newly constructed and altered structures
• Assembles, installs, and maintains lighting fixtures and field lighting systems
• May install, repair, and maintain air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating equipment
• Diagnoses and performs repair work on audio-visual and other electronic equipment, public address and intercom systems
• Plans, organizes and lays out assigned tasks
• Coordinates, directs and assures the completion of work by others in a timely manner
• Installs and maintains heavy machinery and power tools
• Requisitions and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies, parts and materials
• Estimates labor and material costs
• Drives a service vehicle to and from work sites
Knowledge of:
• Methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the electrical and electronic trade
• Electrical codes and regulations applicable to school facility maintenance, repair, and construction
• Legal mandates, policies, regulations and guidelines pertaining to electrical work
• Principles, methods and techniques of organization and supervision
• Safe working methods and procedures
Ability to:
• Lead and coordinate electoral and electronic projects
• Skillfully use tools and equipment in performing electrical and electronic installation, maintenance and repair activities
• Plan, organize and lay out electrical work
• Accurately estimate labor and material costs
• Work from diagrams, blueprints, shop drawings, sketches and specifications
• Maintain simple records and prepare complete and concise reports
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships

 

Requirements / Qualifications

Experience: • Five years of experience in general maintenance, a minimum of two of these years must be as an apprentice level electrician, preferably including one year in a lead or supervisory capacity Education: • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade

All requirements must be provided at time of application

  • DMV Printout (Within the last 3 months)
  • Letter of Introduction (Please include your experience qualifying you for this posiiton)
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (3- Within the last 12 months)
  • Proof of HS Graduation
  • Resume

The East Whittier City School District provides educational opportunities (transitional kindergarten through eighth grade, including special education) for approximately 9,000 children. The District employs approximately 1,075 teachers, administrators and support staff. We have 13 schools which operate on a traditional school year schedule.
