St. Mel School is seeking a cheerful and dynamic 1st teacher who is passionate about helping every student succeed and meet their full potential while nurturing their learning in a faith-filled, Catholic school setting. St. Mel School provides a full curriculum in Common Core standards teaching Religion, Math, Literature/Reading, Writing/Language, Science, Social Studies, Art, Computer, Music, Physical Education and Spanish for all students in K – 8th grade. Our 1st grade teacher will teach all 1st grade curriculum subjects, except for Spanish, PE, Art, Music and Technology. Our mission is based on the School-wide Learning Expectations (SLE’s) which nurtures the whole child. We are a school rich in the Mercy tradition of service to others, Catholic identity and academic excellence. We monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments several times during the school year. Beyond the classroom, students are offered many co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, including, athletics, academic competitions, STREAM week, field trips, Student Council, and community service opportunities. Applicants must have strong leadership skills as well as the heart of a servant. Preference is given to applicants that are practicing Catholics involved in their parish and faith community.
