What is required by SRVUSD and the State of California once you are hired to be a Substitute Teacher:
FINGERPRINTS
• Fingerprints are required through SRVUSD. Payment of $62.50 will be taken out of your first paycheck.
• Fingerprints are also required by the CTC (Commission on Teaching Credentialing), (approx $80 fee).
• Along with your CTC fingerprints, you will need to apply for your Certificate of Clearance (COC) through the CTC website ($52.50 fee at time of purchase). Please note, the fingerprints for SRVUSD and the CTC are separate and both are required
IF YOU HAVE PASSED THE CBEST BUT DO NOT HAVE A TEACHING CREDENTIAL
• You will apply for a 30 Day Substitute Permit ($100 fee). Fee will be collected at our New Hire Orientation and must be submitted in the form of a cashier’s check or money order made out to CTC
IF YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN/PASSED YOUR CBEST
• You will apply for a CBEST Waiver which allows you to substitute for one year while you prepare to take and pass your CBEST ($100 fee).
WHAT TO BRING TO NEW HIRE ORIENTATION
• Official transcripts. The CTC requires a Bachelor’s Degree or Foreign Transcript Equivalency if your degree is from out of the country.
• Copy of CBEST results
• Money order or cashier’s check made out to the CTC for $100.
• Current TB Test
• Your Teaching Credential if you have one
