BURTON SCHOOL DISTRICT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL VICE PRINCIPAL JOB SUMMARY Elementary Vice Principal will, under the direct supervision of the Elementary Principal, support the Elementary Principal and other assigned personnel’s job responsibilities; Receiving, distributing, and communicating information to enforce school, district, and state policies; Maintaining safety of school environment; Coordinating assigned school site activities; Assisting students to modify inappropriate behavior and develop successful interpersonal skills; Communicating information to staff, Elementary Principal, and the public. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Credential: California administrative credential that authorizes administrative services, as well as California teaching credential that authorizes elementary school instruction. 2. Education: Bachelor's degree, including all courses needed to meet all credentialing requirements. 3. Experience: Demonstrated successful administrative and teaching experience; Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operators License. Knowledge of: District policies and procedures as they apply; Research methodologies and evaluation of programs; Data collection techniques/data management; Strategies for teaching adult learners; Methods and practices of office management involving data processing and other computer equipment; Operation of office machines used in a modern office environment; Formats and procedures for entering and retrieving various types of data; Record keeping techniques; Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; Oral and written communication skills; Interpersonal skills, using tact, patience and courtesy; Applicable sections of the State Education Code and other applicable laws. Ability to: Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, teachers, and the general public. Maintain and verify accuracy and completeness of documents, records, and process data. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and safety rules. Compile, maintain, and submit accurate and complete records and reports. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. Demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematical skills. Effectively and tactfully communicate in both oral and written forms. Prepare and present comprehensive oral and written reports. Meet schedules and deadlines, and plan and organize work. Review, code, check, and enter data on a computer. Provide work direction to others as assigned. Bilingual English/Spanish (Desired) Follow-through with directives. Work confidentially. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL VICE PRINCIPAL Burton School District ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION 1. Perform a wide variety of specialized tasks; interpret and apply rules and regulations as appropriate. 2. Manages various school administrative functions (e.g. student disciplinary policy, school schedule, assigned personnel, student activities, etc.) for the purpose of enforcing school, district, and state policy and maintaining safety and efficiency of school operations. 3. Facilitates communication between personnel, students, and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts. 4. Facilitates various meetings (e.g. curriculum, safety, site advisory, special district committees, staff development, etc.) for the purpose of coordinating agendas and ensuring that outcomes achieve school, district, and/or state objectives. 5. Intervenes in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students and/or parents for the purpose of assisting students in modifying inappropriate behavior, developing successful interpersonal skills and/or initiating disciplinary action. 6. Assists in the evaluation of personnel for the purpose of ensuring standards are achieved and performance is maximized. 7. Assists in the supervision of instructional personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth, and achieving overall objectives of school’s curriculum. 8. Prepares documentation (e.g. reports, correspondence, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information. 9. Presents information on various topics for the purpose of communicating information and/or gaining feedback. 10. Supports Principal for the purpose of assisting with their job functions of maintaining overall school site operation. 11. Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. 12. Attends various meetings (e.g. district, site, community, etc.) for the purpose of communicating and/or gathering information. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL VICE PRINCIPAL Burton School District 13. Very Frequent = 76%+ 4 Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations. 3 Ability to stand for extended periods of time. 4 Ability to see for purposes of reading printed matter and observing students. 4 Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels. 4 Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation. 2 Ability to bend and twist, stoop, kneel, run and crawl. 1 Ability to lift 50 pounds. 2 Ability to carry 25 pounds. 4 Ability to operate office equipment. 4 Ability to reach in all directions.
