Specific Responsibilities
- Creating and maintaining a high quality learning environment with respect to the academic needs of the child
- Working with students to ensure mastery of all material delivered
- Developing and implementing classroom management strategies that respect the needs and development of the students and that ensures a positive, harmonious learning environment
- To maintain professional behavior which is appropriate in the field of education and supports the school
- To assist Principals of the School with building-wide expectations and revising school curriculum
- Supports and works to create and maintain a classroom that is organized and focused on student achievement
- Completes all unit plans in a timely manner as prescribed by the Principal of School - Dean of Curriculum and Instruction
- Delivers instruction that is teacher centered and is aligned with school curriculum
- Supports the school parental involvement policies
- Participates in all professional development activities
- Prepares students to achieve on state standardized tests
- Prepares students to achieve on all internal academic assessments
- Participates in weekly team meetings
- Implements teaching practices consistent with the school’s vision and philosophy
- Helps with supervision according to the needs of the school
- Tutor a small group of students at least one day per week after school for 60 minutes; choice of the day may be left to the discretion of the teacher or Principal
- Complete any other duty deemed necessary by the Principals of School for the success of the School
Knowledge of
- Recruitment best practices, strategies, procedures, and marketing techniques
- Interviewing skills and techniques
- Ohio Department of Education teacher credentialing certification procedures
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of related work experience (non-profit experience a plus)
- Must possess HQT status to teacher Technology through the Ohio Department of Education.
- 2-3 Years successful classroom teaching experience: urban experience a plus
- Proven successful track record in teacher recruiting or classroom instruction
- Strong time management skills
- Must exhibit excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
- Meets deadlines 100% of the time
- Remain positive, flexible and professional
- Build a healthy relationship with students, parents and colleagues
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Publisher, and Power Point
- Demonstrates a “do whatever it takes” mentality and approach to the job including, but not limited to: dedicating time above and beyond to ensure tasks are completed to support the overall success and function of the company
- Must be familiar with the school surrounding community
- Be proficient in researching, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data
- Possess the ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve stated goal.
The Future of I CAN
In 2013-2014 I CAN SCHOOLS will be expanding its locations throughout Ohio into Maple Heights, Akron, and Canton for the 2013-2014 school year. Local colleges and universities have partnered with I CAN SCHOOLS to provide teachers with a quality internship experience, ultimately driving student performance. I CAN SCHOOLS will continue its commitment, in collaboration with school leaders, classroom teachers and support staff, to obtain federal and local grants to assist with future network growth and financial needs to continue on the path of success as a high performing network of schools.
Compensation
I CAN SCHOOLS offer an exceptional benefit package to all full time employees that include, medical, dental and vision. Employees participate in Ohio STRS (state teacher retirement system). Additionally, I CAN SCHOOLS pays a 14% contribution to SERS and employees contribute a minimal 12%. I CAN SCHOOLS salary is competitive and ranked above most high performing charter schools in the State of Ohio.
