Fusion Academy is an accredited, non-traditional private school and tutoring facility for grades 6-12. We offer students the opportunity to learn on their terms, on their schedule, and in their learning style—all in a one-to-one classroom. Fusionites are creative and embrace change. Fusion is growing rapidly, and offers considerable opportunity for career advancement. Fusion San Mateo seeks a Full-Time Director of Homework Café to join our team. This individual will lead a team of Homework Café teachers in establishing a fun and engaging learning environment for students by providing the support, structure, and mentoring necessary for students to be successful on our campus. The Director of Homework Café will maintain close connections with students, parents and staff to guide progress towards academic and social goals. Additionally, s/he will ensure the Homework Café remains a safe and productive environment for all students.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Monitor student progress in completion of homework and help maintain on-task behavior. • Communicate with teachers and parents on student progress. • Promote a positive social environment for students. • Manage sign-out process and Friday School. • Support students getting to class on-time with all necessary materials. • Lead weekly Student Meeting. • Plan, execute, and promote student social activities, including clubs, field trips and fun nights. • Oversee library system, including book inventory, book and laptop check out. • Build a strong rapport with individual students. • Ensure safe and appropriate interactions and environment is maintained. • Maintain a clean, organized and productive space for students to work in. • Ensure Homework Café is appropriately staffed at all times. • Supervise 2-3 Homework Café teachers. • Be a positive and engaging member of the Fusion San Mateo’s Administrative Team and Staff. Ideal candidates should be: • Highly organized and able to multi-task • Able to manage stress, group dynamics, mediate conflict, stay focused, and lead in a less structured environment • Skilled in developing relationships with a variety of personalities • Able to reserve judgment and respond with curiosity and compassion. • Effective communicators, both verbally and in writing • Proactive and autonomous • Intelligent, good humored, positive, and compassionate • Able to assist students in a variety of subjects, either through direct knowledge or a willingness to relearn or learn new material • Knowledgeable of learning differences and emotional difficulties
