Job Summary

Job Summary

The person in this position works under general supervision, to perform a variety of instructional and routine clerical duties designed to free the instructor from routine work related to the program and to provide specialized instruction. Primary responsibilities of the position are to: - Assist in planning and conducting rehearsals for choirs, orchestras, and other musical ensembles; Support the music director during performances, ensuring all elements run smoothly; Step in to conduct rehearsals or performances in the absence of the music director. - Collaborate in selecting music for performances and services; Assist in developing new music programs and initiatives to enhance the music department; Provide input on musical arrangements and compositions. - Maintain organized records of music, schedules, and other documents; Assist in coordinating logistics for performances, including venue arrangements, equipment setup, and transportation; Assist with music program administrative tasks as needed (e.g., scheduling, communication with parents). - Participate in educational programs and workshops for students and community members; Assist in outreach efforts to engage and grow the music program and audience base. - Provide support and feedback to students to foster the development of musicians; - Ensure all participants are informed and prepared for rehearsals and performances.

KNOWLEDGE OF: - Variety of musical styles and genres; - Conducting and rehearsing musical ensembles; - Musical theory, composition, and arranging; - Music software and technology; - Digital tools and resources for music education.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - Any combination of training, education and experience, which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position. - Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. - Minimum of 3 years experience in music direction, conduction, or related field. - Previous music teaching experience, preferably with students of various age groups. Note: Incumbent is not required to hold California Teaching Credential.
