TITLE: Assistant Principal Elementary School
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Credential
California credential authorizing elementary administrative service
B. Education
Sufficient to meet credential requirements
C. Experience
1. Successful teaching experience

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
A. Knowledge of management principles and practices, including organization, supervision, and training
B. Knowledge of secondary school curriculum
C. Knowledge of the principles and procedures associated with curriculum development and implementation
D. Knowledge of the ancillary services within the school and how they relate to the total program
E. Knowledge of and ability to make decisions in accordance with the laws, policies, regulations and procedures
pertaining to school administration
F. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students, parents contacted in the performance of duties
G. Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of subordinate personnel
H. Ability to speak and write effectively

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
A. Management Area
1. The Assistant Principal will assume all of the duties of the Principal when absent
2. Assist the Principal in the organization and administration of the school in the following areas:
a. Implementation of districts instructional program
b. Supervision and evaluation of all certificated and classified personnel designated by the Principal
c. Determination of school and community needs as they relate to the instructional program
d. Coordination of all ancillary services within the school
e. Development and implementation of a school plan for remedial instruction in basic skills
f. Participation in the development and implementation of the school discipline plan
g. Development and implementation of a student body activities program
h. Responsibility for the gathering and communication of guidance and pupil personnel information
i. Development and implementation of a school student counseling program
j. Attend job-related meetings and activities assigned by the Principal
k.. Carry out such additional duties as may be assigned by the Principal or Superintendent of Schools
l. Manage the student with special needs referral process
B. Relationships
1. Assist the Principal in establishing effective interpersonal relationships among the members of the school community
2. Assist the Principal in communicating the school and district goals, procedures and objectives to the community
3. Assist the Principal in obtaining the involvement of staff, students, parents and community in establishing school goals
4. Assist the Principal in providing leadership and guidance in adjusting the school’s program and procedures to meet individual student needs.
C. Professional Attitude, Responsibility and Participation
1. Further professional growth through continuing education and attending workshops and conferences
2. Keep abreast of educational trends and curriculum development
3. Participate in professional organizations or associations
4. Abide by the Code of Ethics of the district and professional organizations
