Curriculum Coach

SALARY:Placement on the teacher's salary schedule based on education and experience.
Teacher Work Year: 11 months

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The curriculum coaches will work under the supervision of the Directors of Secondary or Elementary Curriculum to assist in the continued planning, developing, expanding, evaluating and articulating the Language Arts and Mathematics Program at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
It is expected that the person(s) selected for these positions will have demonstrated skill as well as experience in elementary or secondary core subject education, technology and staff development leadership. A broad knowledge of California State standards and Model Curricular Guidelines, as well as recommendations made by national, state and local education professional associations is essential. The selected person(s) will need particular strengths in assisting teachers as well as knowledge of current strategies for the delivery of appropriate instruction.
In addition, the person(s) chosen will need the background and skills to plan and conduct staff development sessions in appropriate typical and content areas for teachers, parents and the community. The Curriculum Coaches must evidence ability in written and oral communication.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
•Works with Directors of secondary or elementary Curriculum;
*Assists selected elementary or secondary schools with the implementation of Core Curriculum programs;
•Conducts curriculum development and revision activities as necessary; •Assists in development of District Secondary or Elementary publications; *Provides practical resource materials, ideas and methods to teachers;
*Models lessons, provides coaching and feedback to teachers;
•Advises administrators and teachers on methods of supporting and strengthening instructional programs in core curriculum;
*Conducts inservice education and staff development activities for teachers, parents and community groups;
*Serves as District liaison to institutions of higher education as well as corporate and public agencies associated with this program;
*Assists in the collection of program data; and
*Assists in the evaluation and dissemination of the program; and performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
*Must possess and maintain a valid California Credential authorizing service as an elementary or secondary teacher;
• Must have at least three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience at the level assigned as a coach;
*Must have demonstrated leadership in secondary or elementary in one or more of the following areas: Secondary Math, English Language Arts, English Learners and Science.
•Must have leadership experience in conducting staff development, curriculum development and curriculum writing.
