Job Summary

The District Data Technician is directly responsible to the Superintendent for a variety of higher-level clerical and support work involving both specific routines and broadly defined policies and procedures. The job of “District Data Technician " is done for the purpose/s of performing complex data entry; preparing and maintaining documentation at the district office. The District Data Technician shall interact with the public and work cooperatively with staff. The District Data Technician will greet and interact with students and parents. Areas of responsibility include, data input, data extraction and reporting. The District Data Technician shall be responsible for maintaining accurate school level and district level data and reporting such data to county, state, and federal agencies.

          JOB FUNCTIONS • Prepare and maintain a variety of files, electronic files, documents, letters, and reports related to district business. • Prepares and maintains documents (e.g. test scores, student records, grades, student and staff email, usernames and passwords, student registration information, educational software license registrations etc.) for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties. • Assists the district administration and staff for the purpose of providing technical support and information. • Processes student information data for the purpose of providing current and accurate documents. • Responsible for student registration and updating forms on an annual basis, student independent contracts, student attendance records, including the SART and SARB process. • Ability to perform complex queries and functions for the purpose of accessing data summaries. • Participates in various activities (e.g. meetings, training, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information. • Respond to all communications: in person, telephone, voice mail, and electronic mail. • Maintain confidentiality regarding student, parent & staff information • Maintain training in first aid and CPR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Any combination of education, training and/or experience-equivalent to graduation from High School, supplemented by two years in a public-school setting. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES -Bilingual skills required. -Experience in use of technology for preparation and maintenance of student data, and other data-related information (CALPADS, Synergy, City Span, SEIS, Word, Excel, Email). -An ability to plan, organize, write with clarity and correctness and work cooperatively with fellow employees, staff, administrators, and parents. -Perform a variety of difficult and complex data extractions for reports. Maintain complex, confidential or sensitive information and files. -Perform in situations requiring specialized knowledge, using tact and good judgment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS -Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse. -Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. -Hearing and speaking to exchange information. -Seeing to read a variety of materials. -Ability to lift 20 pounds maximum and carry objects weighing up to 15 pounds. -The amount of time for each activity varies depending on daily work load and priority schedules. Some days, sitting could occur more frequently, and on other days standing and walking could occur throughout the workday. May sit for prolonged time when completing projects, however standing breaks are encouraged. WORK ENVIRONMENT: -School office -Constant interruptions -Deadlines, meetings, and reports are constant -Overtime may be necessary throughout the year during peak reporting periods LICENSE: Possession of a valid California Driver's License issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
