TITLE: SPEECH, LANGUAGE & HEARING SPECIALIST

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid California Preliminary or Clear Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential in Language, Speech and Hearing.

JOB GOAL: To conduct Language, Speech, and Hearing Assessments and provide Educational Services, provide specific learning disability area services related to speech and language, and special education services to individuals with language and speech impairments across the special education disability areas.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Identify pupils with communicative disorders provide speech, language and hearing services to pupils.
• Utilize assessment procedures, techniques and standard tests necessary for thorough and accurate diagnosis and convey pertinent information to cooperating personnel.
• Use additional professional resources when supplementary diagnostic information is needed.
• Develop short and long term therapeutic goals to meet individual needs as determined by the IEP team.
• Record and analyze responses related to improving communication skills
• Redefine objectives and modify therapy as needed.
• Redefine progress within the therapy situation and provide for reinforcement within other environments.
• Utilize research strategies and results to improve the program
• Plan and conduct teacher and parent conferences.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary staff conferences with school, county and community personnel.
• Establish and/or follow professional guidelines for identification, referral, diagnosis, caseload selection, termination and follow-up procedures.
• Develop and efficient record keeping and evaluation system.
• Provide information and assistance to parents.
• Provide and follow identification, referral and therapy schedules for assigned school and informs appropriate personnel of any departure from the schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
