SAN GABRIEL UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TITLE: Speech and Language Pathologist QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Valid California credential to provide speech and language services to special education students. 2. Master’s degree in speech and language pathology and a willingness to work toward a speech and language credential. REPORTS TO: Building principal or designated administrator. SUPERVISES: Students as assigned. JOB GOAL: To devise and implement speech and language programs for students who have handicaps which prevent them from learning through traditional methods. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assess the speech and language needs of students in order to design and implement appropriate remediation and instructional plans and strategies. 2. Provide speech and language instruction for special education students. 3. Maintain required records, reports as well as participating in the development of Individualized Education plans (IEP’s). 4. Work closely with school personnel to complement and supplement academic concepts. 5. Consult with classroom teachers regarding the speech and language needs of special education students.
