Job Summary

Santa Barbara Unified School District is currently recruiting for a Special Education Extensive Support Needs Teacher for our preschool students. This position will start Spring of 2025. Essential Functions: Strong background in implementing behavior management skills. Ability to modify or adapt materials to meet each individual’s needs. Highly qualified and competent teacher with the ability to teach at all levels of extensive support needs. Committed to the welfare and education of all students. Develop a balanced program with appropriate activities designed to encourage pupils to develop good skills and attitudes. Abilities and Knowledge: Plan, design and implement, in collaboration with both special education and general education teachers, curricular programs and instructional strategies that facilitate the successful transition/integration of students with moderate and severe disabilities/behaviors in the least restrictive environment. Work with each student to attain his/her learning potential. Able to teach using Common Core State Standards. Establish and maintain standard of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment. Evaluate each pupil’s development in the course(s) being taught and prepare necessary reports. Will maintain professional competence through participation in Professional Learning, PLCs and in self-selected professional growth activities. Working Conditions & Physical Demands: Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations. Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time. Ability to see for purposes of reading laws and codes, rules and policies, and other printed matter and observing students. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal speech levels. Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation. Ability to lift up to 25
