Job Summary
The resource specialist teacher shall have primary responsibility to deliver direct services to those students identified as requiring special education services for less than 50% of their instructional day. SECONDARY FUNCTION: Collaborative education services to parents and staff and consultation shall be a secondary function of the resources specialist teacher. QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a valid California Resource Specialist Credential or a comparable (mildly handicapped) credential. Ability to pass California CBEST. DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: Building Site Principal IMMEDIATE SUBORDINATE: Special Education Aide RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Participates in the Student Study. Serves as an integral member of the IEP Team with pupil assessment, individualized instructional plan design, implementation and progress monitoring for each pupil identified as appropriately served in the Resource Specialist Program. 2. Instructs pupils assigned, using special techniques, equipment, materials and related services as specified in the instructional plan. 3. Prepares specialized materials and devices used in working with students in the regular class environment. 4. Provides motivation, through a consistently varying approach, to pupils who have a shout attention span and who have extreme difficulty in working independently. 5. Collaborative education shall reflect current district practices of maintaining students in the least restrictive environment and may involve team teaching and/or shared case carrier designation. 6. Consultative services in the areas of academic achievement, cognitive processing, and school adjustment and behavioral objectives may be required. 7. Train aides and volunteer assistants assigned to the program. 8. Communicate effectively with instructional staff, parents, and community agencies in an effective manner. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Possess an Education Specialist teaching credential, moderate/severe or MMSN (or meet the qualifications for an ed. spec. permit), as well as an EL authorization. Possess the ability to work positively and effectively with students, families, school personnel, and other community agencies. Position may also require some lifting.
