One of the following: Substitute Teaching Permit, or a California Teaching Credential--Multiple Subject, Single subject, or Educational Special Educational Specialist. To qualify for a Substitute Teaching Permit: -BA/BS or higher from an accredited college or university (verified by an official transcript). -*Completion of the basic skills requirement (CBEST or Multiple Subject CSET) and completion of the appropriate Credentialing (CCTC) application 41-4. CBEST testing information is on line at www.cbest.nesinc.com. *The basic skills requirement is NOT required for a 30-day Substitute Teacher Permit. The basic skills requirement IS required for an Emergency Substitute Permit for Prospective Teachers.) -Completion of the Livescan fingerprinting process for CCTC, total fee $64.00 ($32.00 DOJ / $17.00 FBI / $15.00 processing fee). -Payment of the required fees, currently $102.50 (fees are established by the CCTC). There will be fees for fingerprinting services for any person applying for a substitute or temporary position with SJCOE. The fee for a Certificated Substitute/Temp is $47.00.

Teacher applicants need the following required materials: Letter of Introduction, resume, three professional letters of recommendation, proof of BA, and/or copy of valid CA substitute permit or teaching credential.
