BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Assistant Principal, patrol and supervise the school campus, parking lot and adjacent areas to assure safety of students, buildings, equipment and staff; observe student behavior and assure compliance with District rules, regulations and procedures.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Patrol and supervise assigned areas of the school campus, assuring students are safe, orderly, and within supervised areas; assure non-students are authorized visitors; monitor lunch areas, walkways, restrooms, parking lots and adjacent areas.
Observe and assure proper student behavior and enforce District rules, regulations and procedures; identify, investigate and report unusual, improper, suspicious or criminal activities; prevent or break up student conflicts and fights; detain students or suspects as needed.
Monitor student behavior and activity during passing periods, breaks and lunchtime; assure students arrive to class in a timely manner; assure students have proper permission slips outside of classrooms during instruction periods.
Confer with students, administrators, faculty and staff concerning student behavior and assigned activities; interview students, staff and others concerning incidents; report incidents involving students and the public to appropriate staff or administrator.
Respond to complaints from students, teachers, parents and others; visit classrooms in response to complaints and escort delinquent students to and from administration offices as needed; report and direct or escort unauthorized visitors off campus.
Identify and report safety, sanitary, security and fire incidents and hazards to appropriate personnel; report cleaning, maintenance and repair needs to appropriate personnel; investigate and report instances of graffiti and vandalism.
Inspect campus perimeter, fencing, building, locks and alarm systems to assure proper security as required; monitor classroom in the absence of faculty as requested.
Deter or respond to student smoking, drug use, drinking and other illegal activities; identify and report dress code violations as appropriate; confiscate illegal contraband as needed; prepare referrals and discipline forms.
Provide security during special events, school functions, sporting events and other activities as assigned.
Utilize and respond to calls on two-way radio; drive a motorized cart to conduct work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and one year security experience including work with students in an organized setting.
