DUTIES: • Assist instructional and therapy personnel with planning and organization of therapy activities with children experiencing various physical, learning and/ or behavioral problems. • Works with individual student to reinforce and follow up learning activities; monitor and assist children in a variety of self-help activities, including self-regulation, feeding, toileting, etc. • Directs children into safe play activities and assist them with appropriate social behaviors; assist in managing behavior of children through the use of a variety of reinforcement techniques. • Assist with the preparation of learning materials. • Maintains a variety of records, files and information. QUALIFICATIONS: • 48 completed units from an accredited college or university. • Experience in working with emotionally disturbed children is desirable. • Oral, reading and writing fluency in both English and Spanish (preferred). • Successful passing of Bilingual Proficiency Exam will increase salary range to Range15. • Knowledge of behavioral management strategies. • Performs other related duties as required on a temporary basis. Final employment will be effect upon tuberculosis and fingerprint clearance.
