Work hours are approximately 6:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. The Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting pupils of the district over an assigned route to and from school and on approved field trips and special trips. Bus Drivers are off during school breaks and summer. Benefits include: paid holidays, sick leave, vacation compensation and dental/vision coverage for family at no cost.

POSITION:   Bus Driver

 DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO:  Transportation Supervisor

 BASIC FUNCTION:

 The Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting pupils of the district over an assigned route to and from school and on approved field trips and special trips.

 PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Complies with regulations and laws set forth by the Department of Education and the California Highway Patrol relating to pupil transportation.

 Safely drives a diesel or gas school bus over a designated route in conformity with an established time schedule.

 Maintains proper discipline of pupils on the bus.

 Assists in maintaining the bus and equipment in a clean and safe condition, including sweeping the bus daily, washing the exterior as needed and maintaining windows in a clean condition at all times.

 Completes necessary daily inspection as required by the State Department of Education and the California Highway Patrol.

 Performs other related duties as assigned by the transportation supervisor, transportation coordinator, head mechanic or the superintendent.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

1.   A valid California class II, a valid school bus driving certificate, and a health examination, including TB clearance.

 

2.   Within the same month of reaching the age of 65 and during each twelve months thereafter, all school bus drivers shall be required to successfully pass a physical examination, pursuant to Vehicle Code Section 12804.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

High school graduate or equivalent.

 

 SALARY:  Range 10  Classified Salary Schedule
