Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Site Principal, assist with students and work daily within Moderate/ Severe Special Education settings and/or with students in the SEAS program or Pre-School educational settings. - Work daily within Moderate/Severe Special Education Classrooms and/or the SEAS or Pre-School settings and assists teachers with a Moderate/Severe Education Specialist credential, Early Childhood Education Credential, or who teach in the SEAS or Pre-School programs - Collaborate and carry out coordinated responses to student behavior and needs - Collaboration and coordination within the classroom between teachers, service providers, and other paraprofessionals - Working to support students who are medically fragile or have emotional disturbances or other severe behavior needs - Implementing and documenting advanced de-escalation techniques associated with severe behavior or conditions - Assist in the integration of students into a least restrictive environment - Gather, discuss, and review data associated with student needs, as requested by the Educational Specialist - Under the guidance and collaborative efforts of the Educational Specialist, leading small groups or individuals in an instructional environment - When asked, provide input for lessons and feedback during debriefing sessions - Under the direction of the teacher, implement tier-three behavioral responses - Assist students in their understanding of new concepts - Repeat and reinforce instruction to assist students with comprehension of academic material - Assist with instruction of self-help skills and academics - Set up and operate assistive technology devices and other teaching aids - Assist in the supervision of students on-campus and during off-campus field trips within the context of the assigned classroom - Complete light computer work by entering student data related to a student’s IEP document - Assemble lesson materials as directed - May work 1:1 with a student
