Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Elementary Education, the Elementary School Principal is expected to be an educational leader who possesses administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student at Murrieta Elementary School. The Principal is responsible for ensuring high levels of learning for all students by overseeing programs at the school site and coordinating with the district. The Principal guides collaborative teams to support the needs of students in a manner that is consistent with the MVUSD vision, mission, and strategic goals. The Principal has a commitment to collective inquiry and reflection on results of student achievement to improve student learning. The Principal is responsible for school-wide leadership and the supervision of staff. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES (May include, but is not limited to the following): 1. Provide instructional leadership and foster a culture of inclusion for all stakeholders. 2. Create conditions that support ongoing professional growth for all staff. 3. Model, monitor and enforce expectations that contribute to a safe and positive environment. 4. Manage school resources with fidelity. 5. Apply District policies and procedures to specific situations. 6. Manage and resolve conflicts and crises arising among students, parents, staff. 7. Assist staff in case management of IEPs of special needs students. 8. Maintain standards and resolve issues related to student conduct. 9. Communicate effectively and tactfully in both oral and written forms. 10. Coordinate services and programs with outside agencies for student services. 11. Provide leadership to staff in developing curriculum for all students including special education students based on California Content Standards. 12. Effectively and efficiently supervise a variety of personnel. 13. Facilitate open communication and understanding by fostering the principles of shared leadership.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 1. Master’s Degree or higher degree from an accredited college and a Valid California Administrative Service Credential 2. Valid California Teaching Credential or Valid Pupil Personnel Service Credential 3. Four (4) or more years of successful Teaching and/or Pupil Personnel experience, preferably at the elementary school level. 4. Three (3) or more years of successful administrative experience, preferably at the elementary school level. 5. Successful prior experience as a principal or assistant principal is desirable.
