POSITION DESCRIPTION: The position of Payroll and Retirement Manager is done for the purpose(s) of organizing, and supervising the administration of the payroll and retirement reporting cycles in accordance with provision of the Education Code, Administrative Code, Labor Code, and established county office, state and federal regulations including applicable portions of retirement law; and performs other duties as required. This position is designated as a classified management position and is part of the Management Leadership Team; this position will be assigned to the Retirement Unit. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Four years of successful responsible experience reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting documents (i.e. employment contracts, STRS/PERS retirement and compliance, Bargaining Agreements, etc.) which demonstrate exposure to and utilization of required skills, knowledge and abilities in performing job related duties and responsibilities. Experience in payroll and retirement reporting in an educational setting is preferred. Experience supervising others is preferred. REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college/university. Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis in lieu of the minimum requirement for education. Preference may be given for candidates with Bachelor’s degree.
