Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the site administrator, assist teaching staff with the individualized instruction of students, record keeping and student supervision in general daily classroom activities. Assist teachers with daily instructional and non-instructional activities and performs the prescribed behavior management program. Provide immediate response to problematic student behavior. Provide responsibility to implement student's Behavior Intervention Plan and to make direct intervention with the student when necessary. Assist the school i dealing with students who present serious problem behaviors. Responsible for monitoring the student's progress as well as, instructing the student in appropriate social skills which will assist in productive and positive behavior intervention.

Job Description: The Instructional Aide will assists with the instructional program for primary age students.

Essential Job Duties

  • As directed provides instruction to individual and/or small groups of students in language development, reading, math, and other subject areas in the classroom or remedial lab setting
  • Assists in the preparation of instructional materials.
  • Completes recordkeeping tasks such as completing student achievement profiles and other forms required by psychologist/teacher/administration.
  • Assists in the assessment (testing) of students.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining an attractive classroom environment.
  • Operates various audio-visual equipment and basic office equipment.
  • Organizes and arranges supplies and equipment for student use.
  • Supervises students on playground and lunchroom as needed.
  • Participates in related pre-service and in service training.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATES/PERMITS/LICENSES:
1.         NCLB Compliant (Instructional Aide Exam, AA Degree, College Units)
2.         Valid California Drivers’ license and evidence of motor vehicle insurance.
3.         Willing to attend trainings and obtain certifications related to serving students with special needs.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

1.         Biliterate / Bilingual in the Spanish Language Preferable
2.         Child Growth and Development
3.         Various audio visual and office equipment
4.         Interpersonal skills, using tact, patience and courtesy.
5.         Record-keeping techniques.

1.         Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Reading skills sufficient to read and interpret moderately complex written instructions, text and instructional materials. Basic arithmetic skill;sufficient to add, subtract, multiple and divide whole and fractional numbers. Basic writing skills to keep and maintain logs and reports for behavioral progress.
