LODI UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT CLASS TITLE: MAINTENANCE SERVICES ASSISTANT BASIC FUNCTION: Communicate with District personnel, the public and others to receive work order requests, complaints and questions and route to appropriate personnel; perform responsible clerical duties; assign and route work requests; prepare and maintain a wide variety of records and reports. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Individual positions may not perform all of the duties listed nor do these examples include all responsibilities of positions in this class. Communicate with District personnel, the public and others to receive work order requests, complaints and questions and route to appropriate personnel. E Route daily work order requests to appropriate personnel or route to proper department. E Operate a computer and perform a wide range of computer functions with various software applications; maintain detailed records of work orders. E Perform a variety of responsible clerical duties; answer telephones and provide information including information concerning procedures. E Maintain a wide variety of records related to department operations, activities and personnel; prepare reports for submission to appropriate personnel, agencies and entities according to established time lines and procedures; maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. E Contact vendors and others to coordinate communication and to request parts, services and supplies and to schedule activities and services as needed. E Operate communications systems, typewriter, calculator, copier, printer, cellular phone and fax machine. Perform related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF: Various mechanical, structural, operations and grounds related terminology. Operation of office machines including computer equipment and specified software. Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Record-keeping techniques. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. Telephone techniques and etiquette. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. ABILITY TO: Communicate with District personnel, the public and others to receive work order requests, complaints and questions and route to appropriate personnel. Perform responsible clerical duties such as assigning and routing work requests. Prepare and maintain a wide variety of records and reports. Operate communications equipment, typewriter, calculator, copier, printer, cellular phone, fax machine and other related office equipment. Answer telephones and greet the public courteously. Learn operations, procedures, specific rules and precedents of the office. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Understand and work within scope of authority. Complete work with many interruptions. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Operate Windows-based operating systems and Macintosh-based operating systems. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or equivalent and increasingly responsible experience in a high volume clerical environment. WORKING CONDITIONS: ENVIRONMENT: Office environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard. Board Approved 11/2/99
