Job Description: The After School Instructor is primarily responsible for building a positive and supportive learning environment for elementary/middle school students. The After School Instructor will work as a team under the guidance of the administration team to develop and implement learning activities and experiences that provide a safe social and emotional learning environment. Overall Responsibilities [May include, but is not limited to the following]: • Plan and implement weekly robust learning experiences for all students. • Provide tutoring sessions for students in academic subject areas, such as reading, writing, math, etc. • Provide support with homework completion. • Provide a safe, healthy, and conductive learning environment, • Supervise students with indoor and outdoor activities. • Develop and encourage consistent study habits/routines. • Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities. • Work effectively with students by demonstrating strong behavior management skills. • Be a positive role model for students. • Mentor students in a variety of learning and life experiences. • Assist with recruitment and enrollment of students into enrichment opportunities (clubs). • Create an ongoing communication with site staff and parents. • Participate in ongoing dialogue with teachers and staff about students’ goals. • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications/Requirements: • Attain at least a High School diploma. • Passion to work with young students with diverse backgrounds. • Possess good organizational, communication and teamwork skills. • Ability to model to staff and participants: professionalism, personal responsibility, a strong work ethic and positive character. • Must be able to work from Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:05 p.m. Wednesday from 12:30p.m. to 6:05p.m. (Some grade level times can vary) • Bilingual/bicultural in Spanish is preferred. •
