BASIC FUNCTION:Assist the principal in planning, organizing and directing the operations and instructional program at an elementary school; coordinate and administer assigned school programs and activities; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Communicate and confer with community agencies and authorities regarding school activities, programs and students.
- Perform a variety of administrative duties to assist the principal in managing an elementary school; assume the duties of the principal as assigned.
- Plan, organize, direct and participate in disciplinary actions; develop and implement programs and incentives to promote and improve student attendance and conduct.
- Develop and administer disciplinary procedures in accordance with District policies; confer with students, parents, teachers and community agencies; suspend or assign students to detention as appropriate.
- Assist the principal by administering special programs as assigned; assist in providing educational programs and services as requested assist with State testing.
- Assist with plant management to assure the safety, maintenance and security of site facilities, students and personnel.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of designated certificated and classified personnel; observe and evaluate classroom activities and teaching methodologies.
- Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum; coordinate staff development activities.
- Assist the principal by attending Student Study Team meetings, IEP meetings, and 504 meetings.
- Assist the principal by participating on parent advisory committees.
- Direct the preparation of a variety of reports regarding school operations, activities, students and personnel.
- Direct the preparation of records, logs and files related to student discipline, attendance, cumulative records and school activities.
- Attend a variety of workshops, meetings and conferences to develop and enhance administrative skills, remaining current in education research, techniques and legislation; serve on committees and task forces.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Any combination equivalent to: Master’s degree in education or a related field and four years of classroom experience, including at least two years at the elementary school level.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Administrative Services Credential.
- Appropriate teaching credential.
- Valid driver's license.
- CLAD or BCLAD.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
ENVIRONMENT: Office and classroom environment; subject to constant interruptions.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Sitting and standing for extended periods of time, walking around campus, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, computers, and hearing and speaking to communicate with others.
HAZARDS: Exposure to potentially volatile and emotional students and parents.
