Job Title: Frosh-Soph/JV Coach
Description of Basic Functions and Responsibilities
The Frosh-Soph/JV Head Coach demonstrates successful coaching experience or college playing experience in the sport applying to coach or high school playing experience and assistant coaching experience or working specific sport camps. The Frosh-Soph/JV Head Coach instills commitment, discipline, and teamwork. The Frosh-Soph/JV Head Coach works/communicates with parents, students, staff and the community.
Supervisor: Athletic Director under the direction of the site principal
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrates knowledge of the fundamental skills and techniques needed for the specific sport.
Demonstrates successful personality and character traits appropriate to educational leadership.
Demonstrates successful ability to organize practices.
Ability to work cooperatively with the varsity head coach and/or Athletic Director to design an appropriate conditioning program.
Demonstrates successful management and organization skills including following all district guidelines and policies.
Demonstrates successful ability to work with parent groups, administrators, staff and students.
Demonstrates successful positive communication with the players and parents.
Ability to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork in a group of young people of perhaps widely varying athletic ability, socioeconomic background in preparation for the next level of play.
Ability to help students balance a demanding academic workload with athletic commitment.
Works together in cohesion with all coaches within the sport program.
Ability to follow the CIF/CCSBVAL Coaches Code of Conduct and the BVAL policies and guidelines.
The ability to follow appropriate district protocols regarding cash handling as delegated by the varsity head coach and/or Athletic Director.
Maintain and inventory equipment and uniforms as delegated by the varsity head coach and/or Athletic Director.
Minimum Qualifications
Playing experience in the specific sport at the high school, collegiate, amateur or professional level.
Experience coaching youth leagues, middle school, or sports camp in the same sport, or equivalent experience.
Current State of California coaching certifications.
Current certification required by the East Side Union High School District, including but not limited to ANNUAL mandated reporter training.
Must pass District Fingerprint clearance.

Selected candidates must pass fingerprint clearance and provide current TB test results, valid CPR certification, valid First Aid certification, ASEP certification, Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Certification, Heat Illness Prevention Certificate, Mandated Reporter training, Sexual Harassment training, Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention, Integrated Pest Management and Concussion certification PRIOR to employment. Coach of Second Team (same season – 50% over Category I, II or III) Please be aware that compensation for a hired coaching position is conditional on the lifting of restrictions and a teams' authorized participation in the Sports season.
