SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The purpose of a Chief Operations Officer is to provide senior-level leadership to assigned departments and is responsible for the supervision and direction of construction management, facilities, transportation, maintenance, groundskeeping, emergency planning and preparedness, custodial operations, energy management and conservation activities; in addition to other operational divisions of the school district as assigned. This job reports to the Superintendent of Schools.

OPEN TESTING: Open to employees of the District and the public with the selection process resulting in one (1) Eligibility List that will be used to fill current vacancies and any future vacancies that occur within one (1) year or until the list becomes exhausted. Current permanent employees of the District will be awarded seniority points as per the contract. All properly completed applications will be reviewed and the most highly qualified candidates will be invited to continue in the selection process. The process may consist of an evaluation and scoring of application materials, written testing, oral interview and/or performance test to evaluate the applicant’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies.       EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Ten (10) years of experience in leading business functions in a government or public education of which at least five (5) years must have been in a senior executive position and a Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, building construction, public administration or other related field. WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 70% sitting, 10% walking, and 20% standing. The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
