The Related and Specialized Services Department is currently seeking a Special Education Adaptive Equipment Specialist I. There is one 32 hours per week, 12-month position. This opportunity is open to all interested candidates. This list will be active for three (3) months with the possibility to be extended. Related and Specialized Services is currently seeking a creative, craft-minded, and organized professional to help create, adapt, and order equipment for students with special needs. Needs to have experience designing and drawing patterns using a sewing machine. This position works 32 hours per week and qualifies for district-paid health and wellness benefits for the employee and their eligible dependents. BASIC FUNCTION: Adapt, modify, construct, customize, and repair equipment and materials used by physically handicapped pupils at various school sites. The Special Education Adaptive Equipment Specialist I will be paid on the OSS Salary Schedule. Grade: 036. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid California driver’s license; availability of private transportation (mileage expense allowance provided); Personality and character traits suitable for working with severely physically handicapped pupils.
