Job Summary

Almaden Country Day School (ACDS) seeks a middle school social studies teacher with demonstrated strength in engaging students in the study of world civilizations and US history; this teacher also has a homeroom class and facilitates student meetings as part of a student Advocacy program (similar to advisory). Teaching elective courses is a requirement for the position; this teacher also helps organize and attends a weeklong class trip. ACDS teachers are expected to differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of student needs and readiness levels. Key to success at ACDS is an understanding and appreciation of children’s developmental stages and a deliberate focus on building relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. The successful applicant will value a cooperative learning environment in which colleagues work together for the benefit of the students. He or she will demonstrate cultural competency in his or her teaching, teamwork, and leadership. He or she will provide evidence of high personal and professional standards, communication ability, and eagerness to grow as a teacher.
