Grow Academy is a “no excuse” school with high expectations for success among students, teachers and parents. Our mission is to close the achievement gap, graduating our students at or above grade level in Literacy and Math. As such, we are looking for teachers (K-8) who can support us in achieving that goal on an occasional or ongoing basis. Under supervision of Executive Chef or Sous Chef, the Cafe Lead oversees a variety of duties related to food preparation, service, and general maintenance in the kitchen and dining area. Duties and Responsibilities: Manages Supper procedures, assembling, counting, distribution and clean up. Washes dishes; cleans and scrubs pots and pans. Cleans racks and trays. Empties trash, recycling, and compost daily. Sweeps and mops floors in kitchen area. Maintains clean serving and eating areas; sanitize and polish surfaces daily. Supervises the sets up of the cafeteria for timely service. Supervises the sets up of tray line and salad bars by arranging food. Serves at tray line and salad bars throughout lunch service. Organizes the preparation of breakfast, lunch and snack as needed; preps and scales recipes under the direction of the chef. Oversees and participates in peeling, slicing, coring, and dicing vegetables and fruits by hand or using mechanical equipment. Organizes the preparation of salad bar, salad dressings, and condiments under the direction of the chef. Performs monthly inventory; assists in stocking shelves, receiving, storing and making orders. Properly packs and stores leftover food. Sweeps and mops cafeteria floor. Washes windows in kitchen and cafeteria. Logs fridge and freezer temperatures. Special Requirements: Must have or be willing to obtain a Serve Safe Food Handler’s license. Previous kitchen experience required. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to stand, stoop, reach, and bend. Mobility of arms to reach, dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate large
