NOON DUTY ASSISTANT
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assists in maintaining a safe and orderly environment, discipline, and student control during non-instructional periods; and performs related work as required.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Supervise students in assigned areas including cafeteria, lunch area, indoor assembly areas, outdoor eating areas, halls, restrooms, playground, buses or other vehicles, street crossing area, and at other assigned locations. E
- Enforce safety, security, discipline, and activity rules assigned. Redirect students to more appropriate activities, when needed. E
- Report problems or situations of a serious nature, including recurrent behavior problems and safety hazards, to principal or other appropriate certificated employee. E
- Set up and prepare for activities; maintain records as needed including discipline referrals and written statements; maintain control over equipment and materials used; maintain good order and discipline.
- Organize and coordinate non-instructional activities for maximum benefit to students; observe all aspects of duties assigned. E
- Check restrooms. E
- Safeguard students from harm or injury. E
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities for the classification.

Seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Seeing to monitor student activities.
Hearing and speaking to exchange information.
Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling light to moderately heavy objects.
Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to assist students.
HAZARDS:
Exposure to noise.
Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
Walking on uneven ground and wet or slippery surfaces.
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities for the classification. ***Please note: The standard shifts are either ten (10) or fifteen (15) hours per week with a 9.5 month work calendar (185 working days)***
