Oversees the day to day operation of a school library.

Coordinates and schedules class use of the library: conduct student orientations. Research and retrieve materials for class visits as requested by teachers. 

Trains, coordinates and monitors student assistants, and volunteers in the library.

Assists students and staff in the use of library facilities, practices and procedures and provides library users with information and directional assistance in retrieving library materials.

Performs circulation duties. Checks library materials and equipment in and out of the library using an assigned computerized system. Sort and shelve new and returned library books. 

Collects fees for lost and damaged library books and textbooks as needed: generates and distributes lost, damaged or overdue book notices and related bills to students and parents. 

Responsible for ordering, processing, cataloging, distributing, circulating and inventorying all library books, non-book media, core literature (novel sets), textbooks and consumable textbooks. 

Receives, counts, inspects and accounts for library books, non-book media, core literature (novel sets), textbooks and consumable textbooks delivered on purchase orders. Inspects incoming materials for damage. 

Throughout the school year, assist teachers with materials needed. For example, if they are short materials or receive new students we must provide this for them. This includes home/hospital needs/learning center needs/new student needs, etc. throughout the school year. 

Order supplies for the library. Which includes processing materials for library books and textbooks. 

Mends library books when possible. Purge damaged and obsolete materials as needed. 

Assigns correct Dewey Decimal classification. Stamps school identification, barcode, labels and shelves library books. 

Stamps school identification, numbers and distributes all school textbooks. 

Clear curriculum from classrooms when teachers vacate classrooms. Collect all teacher materials. 

Works with site administrator to ensure that all teachers and students have the textbooks needed for the yearly Williams Review. 

Stimulates student interest in reading and promotes the use of the library by preparing displays, learning centers, decorating bulletin boards, theme week and by other means: and maintaining a clean library environment. Promotes and organizes book fairs and/or read-a-thons. 

Supervises students as they use the library facility, using knowledge of school rules and policies while utilizing site and District adopted measures of positive student interactions. 

Maintain library Chromebooks and make sure they are in working order. Submit tech tickets if needed.

Researches requests from teachers, students and staff. Fills teacher requests for library materials and non-book media. Confers with teachers in the development of learning packets and acquisition of new materials. 

Distributes and collects non-book media. 

Upon request or with prior approval, implements and coordinates special programs in the library; attends meetings and workshops related to school libraries. 

Conducts end of year inventory of library materials, books and equipment. 

Maintains textbook and consumable textbook inventory throughout the school year and at the end of the school year in an effort to prepare for the following school years needs. 

Organize, inventory and maintain all assigned book room(s) for textbooks. 

Distributes school agendas. 

Laminate and make posters on poster machines. 

Types letters, reports and invoice requisitions regarding library materials, textbooks and operations as assigned. 

Attends trainings as directed. 

Performs related duties as assigned.

Any combination of experience and education demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities. A minimum of two years of clerical experience with one year library experience preferred.
