Requirements / Qualifications

Must hold a minimum of 90 semester units of course work from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university, passing CBEST (California Basic Education Skills Test) and TB clearance (TB test must be cleared within 4 years). All applicants must have a valid California teaching credential or emergency Substitute Teaching Permit. First time applicants may apply for a permit with the necessary documents. Upon hire, the district will assist with the Substitute Teaching Permit application process. All applicants are REQUIRED* to submit the following documents with their application: Unofficial transcript(s) CBEST Certification Two (2) recent professional letters of recommendation *Your application will be considered incomplete if you do not attach the required documents. Please double check that you have attached all necessary documents before submitting your application.

EXPLANATION OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS Unofficial Transcript(s): For application purposes, unofficial copies are accepted. Unofficial transcripts MUST show completion of a minimum of 90 semester units of course work from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university. If a transcript shows units transferred from another institution, the letter verifying enrollment must specify the number of units transferred that were accepted toward completion of a bachelor’s degree. If selected to move forward in the hiring process, sealed official copies of transcripts will be required. A "course schedule" is not considered to be an unofficial transcript. CBEST Certification: This is the Basic Skills Requirement for obtaining a Substitute Teaching Permit. If you do not have a passing CBEST test, you may satisfy the requirement with alternative methods. Long-Term Rate of Pay 16+ Days: $200 per day for 16 days or more in same assignment. By submitting your application for the Substitute Teacher, Grades K-12, you are acknowledging and accepting that if you are selected to move forward in the hiring process, you will be attending a mandatory substitute signing session.
