The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. The OCDE is looking for a dynamic Senior Retirement Technician that will audit, reconcile, enroll members in retirement system, and process payroll data for retirement system reporting. The person selected for this position will answer questions and assist school districts’ payroll and human resources staff with retirement contributions and reporting. This position will also perform related duties as assigned. This position is full-time and will be based out of OCDE located at: 200 Kalmus Drive, Costa Mesa, CA 92628. Work hours will be 8:00 a.m.—5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Education, Training and Experience: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Education: Graduation from high school or high school equivalency test. • Experience: Two years of administrative/technical experience in payroll or human resources function in a California public education system organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The tests are arranged and paid for by OCDE.
